Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
by Kris Van de Sande on June 11, 2010
The “Adventures Continue” for the Jedi in All of Us – Kathy Rogers, Senior Show Producer at Walt Disney Imagineering, gave a huge update on the reimagining of Star Tours today.The new Star Tours 3-D attraction will debut in 2011 in Disneyland park and will bridge that “long time ago” between the two Star Wars trilogies. Kathy revealed today that the attraction will take voyagers – for the first time – to Coruscant and other destinations in the Stars Wars galaxy. Star Tours fans: please note that the attraction in Disneyland park goes on hiatus beginning July 27 to prepare for the all-new journeys, and the last departure to Endor will take place July 26. You’ll also be able to enjoy this exciting adventure in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Here is an all new image released from the new Star Tours adventure: the Starspeeder zipping along in the skies of Coruscant.

looking forward to this
So the ride will be set during the Dark Times! Very excited about this, I so cannot wait to get my hands on the new Starspeeder 1000 toy at Last Tour To Endor this August.
It’s going to be sad to see the original go. I still enjoy it a lot after twenty-three years. I’ve never been crazy about the Prequel movies, and I’m not much for 3D, so it’s going to take a lot to excite me about this new version. I hope it can live up to the simple awesomeness of the original and not just flatline into a flashy but empty effects reel like the Prequels were.
@Michael24
Yes, it’s going to be sad to see the original go, but for a mainstream audience that goes to DL, let’s face it, it’s become lame. I am fully for the revamp and am excited to ride it.
I’m so sad that they are closing the old one down! I mean, yeah, it’s dated and yeah, I’ve been on it like 10,000 times and know it by heart, but STILL! I’m tired of Lucas trying to make things “better” – he just ends up making them lame. And of COURSE he’s jumping on the 3D bandwagon.
I’m just sad that my daughter will never get to ride the original. She’s 15 months now, and we were planning a trip to Disneyland in the next few years. Oh well…
