Oh, that’s not mere speculation. I got it straight from the source, during the Disney Merchandising panel at CV. I even videotaped the slideshow, so here is EXACTLY what Brad Schoeneberg had to say, transcribed from my recording:
“…One more other detail, which is little known to people. Although Star Tours always strives to be the very best in interstellar space travel, we are going to find out in the future that they may not be the *only* spaceliner in the galaxy, so we will be offering these all-new spaceliners as a six-pack of diecast vehicles, and this will hopefully debut with the attraction.”
The other five designs all sport giant aurebesh letters in their paint schemes, probably hints at the names of their spaceliner companies.
Very cool review of the SS1K. I too noticed the differences immediately.
I still do not think that the 6 pack of 1/64 SS1Ks will be “competitors”, but rather other paint schemes used by the ST company.
