ST2 Concept Art

by Kris Van de Sande on November 17, 2009

“The Disneyland Story” displays in the Main Street Opera House lobby continue to get little additions here and there. One of the major additions are pictures of the new Starspeeder 1000, a small red R2 droid wearing a Mickey Mouse hat, and some RX-24 (or it’s nephew) concept art.

7 Years Of Service

by Kris Van de Sande on August 31, 2009

Welcome dear visitors, to the new EndorExpress.net. Just like Disneyland, a website is never finished, and to follow our tradition and honor the saying, today we’re relaunching our site again.

We have moved the site from the old Joomla system to the best of CMS’s, namely WordPress. Over the last few months the site has being tweaked in content and layout, to give you the best and fastest way on all things Star Tours, Special features, and so much more! Also keep in mind that you can now also comment on news items!

It’s weird to think, just 7 years ago. It was 3 months since Attack Of The Clones was released in the theaters, when I decided to start this website. And here we are now today. On a new system, with more content then ever. And we are not thinking of stopping, au contraire,we are just getting started! With Star Tours 2 coming slowly up, we are going to see quite an amazing time.

Thank You to the crew for sticking around all these years, and of course, you visitors, almost 275.000 of you, since our launch 7 years ago.

D23: What will happen?

by Kris Van de Sande on August 17, 2009

D23 (the large Disney Convention) is getting some special visitors. The following message appeared on D23′s Twitter page.

“We were contacted by the Galactic Empire and have been advised that Imperial dignitaries will be attending Disney’s D23 Expo. As a result, a squadron of Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion will be patrolling the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, Sept. 12.”

But what exactly does this mean ? Let’s speculate!

It’s a …. secret!

by Kris Van de Sande on May 1, 2009

We’ve recieved word of following report:

Yesterday was the third day of a secret LucasFilm film shoot in West Hollywood. If you were allowed to enter the “LODESTAR” production stage, you would’ve seen Boba Fett, Admiral Ackbar, a Tusken Raider, and even some Jawas. C3PO himself Anthony Daniels will be filming later this week.

So what is LucasFilm shooting? The good news is that George Lucas isn’t making a another Star Wars movie (not yet anyways) or additional scenes for some super duper special edition. And No, the Star Wars live-action television series has yet to begin production. So what is it? Answer after the jump.
LucasFilm is shooting new footage for the Disney’s Star Tours ride.

[...]

Our source reveals that the revamp will incorporate prequel characters (like Naboo citizens and Geonosians) along with many aliens from the original trilogy (Aqualish. Bith, Rodians, etc). In the action sequence, the Star Tours vehicle is now going to be chased by Boba Fett.  C3PO and R2-D2 are still the hosts, and Anthony Daniels will be recording his parts this week. Admiral Ackbar holographically communicates with the Star Tours vehicle. Right now they’re shooting mostly green screen footage, as it is the middle part of the production timeline.

Make of this what you want, but one thing is for sure. The Star Tours buzz is spreading!

“Artoo?” … Are NOT!

by Kris Van de Sande on August 28, 2008

What started out as a regular Anaheim Star Tours picture on MiceChat, EndorExpress staff researcher Alex saw something weird in the picture. R2-D2, our loved droid, was facing the visitors all the sudden! As this was quite unusual, we called in for a small investigation.

When we sent Paul to Anaheim, he came with some very interesting news! Much to our surprise, we found out that the Screen Used R2 was no longer there. Instead it has been replaced by a stickered tube, with a dome. Also, none of the Animatronics are active. It just sits there, with no lights, no legs, a plastic dome, on a plastic tube.

Our educated guess is that our Feisty droid has been taken for reparations.

Update: Disney provided us with following info: We had a themed temporary R2D2 stand-in in the attraction while the original R2 was rehabbed and reinstalled on 8-27. The rehab included a complete mechanical overhaul, paint, and new LED lights.

And indeed, R2-D2 is back again!
