“Join Disney’s Hollywood Studios as we welcome famed Star Wars Author, Timothy Zahn for his debut appearance at the Walt Disney World® Resort! On Friday, October 14, Timothy Zahn will be signing his latest Star Wars novel, Choices of One at The Writer’s Stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. In addition to signing copies of the Choice of One, Timothy will also be available to sign the 20th Anniversary edition of the #1 New York Times Best Selling Novel, Heir to the Empire. Copies of Choices of One and Heir to the Empire will be available for purchase at The Writer’s Stop.”
During the D23 Expo 2011, we had another opportunity to chat with Tom Fitzgerald about the new Star Tours attraction now that it has been open for the guests to enjoy. Tom was also very busy at the expo with his own behind-the-scenes look at the making of the attraction. Even with almost every secret possibly revealed, we still had just a few more questions and Tom was very gracious to spend a few moments with us. Read the interview here!

As was the case in 2009 Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Carousel of Projects presented by Walt Disney Imagineering was very popular in 2011. In this exhibit Imagineers were on hand to answer questions and give you a sneak peek at upcoming Disney projects such as Walt Disney World’s Fantasyland Expansion, Disney California Adventures Carsland and Buena Vista Street, Aulani and more. At the end of this exhibit you could purchase WDI exclusive merchandise at Mickey’s of Glendale.
A few weeks ago we published the Press Release for the upcoming Xbox 360 Kinect: Disneyland Adventures game. Last week at the D23 Expo I got to see the game first hand. While some information is not being released at this time, what they did show us at the Expo was pretty impressive.

One of the true highlights at the D23 Expo 2011, for us especially, was The Making of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, presented by Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald. Much of what was shown to the audience was previously revealed in our interview with Tom back in June but during the presentation there were more details, more stories, and most importantly, more concept art to go along with them. It was a joy to experience the linear backstory of the attraction and for those who weren’t able to attend, we have a summarized version and many of the concept art as well.

Several of the items that were auctioned off at the 2011 D23 Expo Live Auction were on display for guests to view.
There were 41 lots in the auction and “Winning bids ranged from $700 to $38,000″.
