When the original Star Tours debut in 1987, it had replaced the cult classic attraction ADVENTURE THRU INNER SPACE. The ‘Mighty Microscope’ lived on in Star Tours with a brief cameo in the space terminal as our bumbling Captain REX veered us to “safety”.
Star Tours is back, and everyone has to know it! Disney has launched a big media campaign, with some brilliant TV Ads. We all remember the rather fun Piece Of Cake commercial, but this one does, pardon the pun, takes the cake. Even the Dark Lord himself can’t wait to ride the new Star Tours.

This will be a year long remembered: 2011, the year that Disney and Lucasfilm deliver the goods of what is now dubbed STAR TOURS: THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE. To everyone else, it’s just Star Tours. Fans have waited years, even decades for this new attraction after rumblings were leaked that a script for a new adventure involving podracing was complete. Nobody really knew for sure just how much longer they had to wait but now that the wait is over, it was worth it!
If you haven’t taken a moment to check out the Disney Parks Blog yet, you might want to start. This past Friday, the blog hosted a special sneak peak to the highly anticipated STAR TOURS THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE at Disneyland Park. 1,200 readers selected at random were given the opportunity (along with their guest) to check out the ride before the official launch on June 3rd.

DisneyParks just released a new commercial for Star Tours 2, showing not only the inside of the new Starspeeder 1000, but also parts of the ride video including Kashyyyk, Coruscant and Hoth. Video after the break.
DisneyParksBlog announced “Beginning at 10 a.m. (East Coast time) on May 20, we will host a live webcast of the grand opening that will feature the ceremonial arrival of several dignitaries from around the galaxy to join in the fun”.

It’s been a busy weekend for Star Tours as Cast Members were able to get their own preview of the attraction on Sunday. The queue effects are all in working order as is the attraction itself. The marquee has been looking spectacular at night and as the Disney Parks Blog executes their Star Tours Meet Up on Friday, expect more updates from us in the coming week!
And following up with our Star Trader update last week, you will find additional photos from the store including some from the layover in the Starcade. According to some front line Cast Members, the Starcade merchandise set-up will remain through the summer but we’ll of course try to find a more concrete answer for you.
