This billboard from the Clone Wars animated series features Aurebesh type which says “Star Tours” and includes a fake phone number to call for information on what appears to be a destination to visit with Jedi Master Kit Fisto’s people, the Nautolans.

Is this a Lucasfilm cross-marketing opportunity that ties in to Star Tours 2.0 or potential merchandise on the “new” ride?

Time and speculation will tell!

In the lobby of Great Moments you can find a look at Disneyland past, present, and future. Among Captain EO and Hannah Montana we find a window devoted to the long awaited Star Tours II. 

We also take a look at D STREET, the new Disney high-end store, featuring a lot of new art prints!

Let’s take a look at the display:

The Star Tours II window offers guests a glimpse at some clear looks at the new Starspeeder 1000, special conceptual art, podracing, and the a modernized logo.

The exit queue of “Great Moments”, highlights the American Spirit and portraits can be found gracing the walls including one of Captain EO.

And in Downtown Disney, a brand new store for Vinylmation and other higher end Disney memorabilia can be found.  D STREET, replacing Illuminations, is also a good stop for the Star Wars fan, with a collection of art, animation cels, and T-shirts.

There’s plenty of reason for good cheer this year and next at Disneyland.  Happy Holidays!

“We were contacted by the Galactic Empire and have been advised that Imperial dignitaries will be attending Disney’s D23 Expo. As a result, a squadron of Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion will be patrolling the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday, Sept. 12.”

But what exactly does this mean ? Let’s speculate!

  Logical, right? During SW Celebration III, George Lucas himself said that Star Tours 2 was underway. But … that’s not the sole possible answer. Let’s look at some different options.
• Star Wars Weekends in California
  As a follow up to the very popular formula in Florida and the unofficial Star Wars Fan days, will the Mouse finally serve west-coast fans?
• Star Wars Weekends 2010 Dates
  Booooring. Let’s hope for something more exciting!
• Star Wars Celebration 5 in Florida
  After Denver, Indianapolis and L.A., might the biggest Star Wars event in the world move to the West coast?
• Star Wars Series
  We all know the Clone Wars, and the upcoming Live Action series. But might a Lucasfilm / Disney collaboration be in the works?

It was constructed in secret over one month’s time, because I had to break it down and hide it every afternoon before my wife got home from work.

Fellow customizers like Peter Flessas and Chris Rinehart pitched in, contributing some of the miniature mannequins and vital graphics. And right in the middle of it, I had to take off for ten days to write an article on the Star Wars Holiday Special for the Insider!

A lot of sweat and tears and literal blood went into the creation of it, but when I had my wife enter the room with her eyes closed, and played a CD of James Earl Jones intoning, “Welcome to the National Air and Space Museum” before letting her turn around and see it for the first time, it was well worth it.

And if you were wondering, the person in the plaid vest was their personal Disney Assistent / Tour, and yes, the other 2 people in the pictures were, as you can see, thrilled.

Today is May 25th, 2007… and that means it’s exactly thirty years to the day since a little movie called Star Wars exploded into the national consciousness.

George Lucas was still working on foreign language dubs of the film for international release when he ventured out for dinner, only to see lines forming around the block. He was surprised to learn those folks were queueing up to see *his* movie!

All of us here at SWST wish George and Star Wars a happy anniversary! Here’s to 30 more!

Of course, Star Tours celebrated its 20th anniversary earlier this year… so how are fans commemorating that milestone as well? One fan named Mark Patton is paying tribute to the thrill ride at the party for the film that inspired it!

Some of our staff is currently working Celebration IV in Los Angeles, joining with millions of other Star Wars fans from around the world to mark the three-decade milestone of George Lucas’ little ‘space opera’.

Our own Paul Hruby reports in from the diorama room at C4, where his Ultimate Group Project display is getting lots of attention. Near the UGP is a sight that Star Tours fans, especially those from California, should easily recognize.

It’s a miniature Star Tours diorama, complete with Threepio’s control platform, a custom-built Star Speeder 3000, and even a group of People Mover trams (instantly identifying this as the Anaheim starport of the past).

According to a conversation I had last month with diorama-maker extraordinaire Frank D’iorio (aka Niubniub), the Star Tours diorama is the masterpiece of his friend Mark Patton.

“Director George Lucas said Friday filming for the much-anticipated “Indiana Jones” movie will begin next year and he promised it will be “the best one yet.”

Lucas said he and director Steven Spielberg recently finalized the script, which stars Harrison Ford, who appeared in the three earlier flicks.

“It’s going to be fantastic. It’s going to be the best one yet,” the 62-year-old filmmaker said during an interview at the Beverly Wilshire hotel where he took a break from his duties as grand marshal for the Rose Parade.

Exact film locations have not been decided yet, but Lucas said part of the movie will be shot in Los Angeles.

The fourth chapter of the “Indiana Jones” saga, which will hit theaters in May 2008, has been in development for over a decade with several screenwriters taking a crack at the script, but it only recently gained momentum.

While Lucas kept mum about the plot, he promised the latest action flick will be a “character piece” that will include “very interesting mysteries.”

“I think it’s going to be really cool,” Lucas said.

At the inaugural Rome Film Festival in October, the 64-year-old Ford said he was excited to team up with Lucas and Spielberg again for the fourth “Indiana Jones” installment. Ford said he was “fit to continue” to play the title role despite his age.

Ford played Indiana Jones in 1981′s “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” 1984′s “Temple of Doom” and 1989′s “The Last Crusade.”

Lucas praised Ford for breathing life into his character.

“Mostly it’s the charm of Harrison that makes it work,” he said.”
