A Farewell to Body Wars…

by Alex Newborn on April 11, 2007

January of 2007 was a time of celebration for Star Tours fans, as their favorite thrill ride turned twenty years old… yet it was also a sad month, because Epcot closed the doors on our ‘sister attraction’, Body Wars, just two years shy of its own 20th.

As a tribute, staff researcher Alex Newborn has updated our Body Wars page with a new overview of the ride’s troubled history, as well as a more accurate and more complete transcript. Big thanks to Patrick Hurd for providing him the audio and Mouseketeer Alison for the photos. Read the complete transcript here in our special features archive.

cIV: Disney Parks/Star Wars Exclusive Toys Panel

by Brian Curran on April 10, 2007

Gus Lopez and his crew have added several more panels to the impressive list at Celebration 4 in Los Angeles next month. One that caught our eye features Brad Schoeneberg and Cody Reynolds teaming up to hold a very special panel that will interest all readers of this site: Disney Parks & Star Wars Toy Exclusives.
This talk will cover the history of the relationship between Disney Parks Attractions and Lucasfilm, taking a look at current Disney on-property events, such as Star Wars Weekends and the Jedi Training Academy. This presentation will also provide details about how Disney characters are co-branded with Star Wars and why various characters were chosen, and a look at the new product exclusives planned for 2007. Collectors will also be able to see a sneak peak of concept artwork for new items considered for 2008. Read The Official Site for more.
