D23 Expo 2011: The Making Of Star Tours

by David Yeh on August 30, 2011

A long time ago in a Glendale far, far away…

One of the true highlights at the D23 Expo 2011, for us especially, was The Making of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, presented by Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald.  Much of what was shown to the audience was previously revealed in our interview with Tom back in June but during the presentation there were more details, more stories, and most importantly, more concept art to go along with them.   It was a joy to experience the linear backstory of the attraction and for those who weren’t able to attend, we have a summarized version and many of the concept art as well.

And following up with our Star Trader update last week, you will find additional photos from the store including some from the layover in the Starcade.  According to some front line Cast Members, the Starcade merchandise set-up will remain through the summer but we’ll of course try to find a more concrete answer for you.

May 1st Disneyland Construction Update

by David Yeh on May 2, 2011

The Star Tours Mural at Disneyland was recently updated to reflect the new Starspeeder 1000 paint scheme.  Fans should be hapy to see that the Death Star remains intact, meaning that the odds of experiencing a portion of the classic attraction may be fairly decent!
For the eagle eyes, there is Aurebesh written underneath the astromech droid sockets that translates plainly to:

“ASTROMECH DROID SOCKET”
